Aadhar Card for NRI

Who is entitled for Aadhar Card for NRI

a. On the date of application for Aadhar, the applicant must be residing in India for at least 182 days or more.

b. The applicant must have proof able Indian address.

The process of making Aadhar Card for NRI is very similar to the normal Indians. The documents required are same no matter whether you are resident or non-resident.

In order to apply for Aadhar Card, non-resident Indian NRI can visit any enrollment Centre or apply through UIDAI website. If you are applying through website, you will be asked to visit Aadhar enrollment Centre on a particular day with scheduled timing. You have to be there so that entire process can be done without any issues.

When you apply for Aadhar Card for NRI, Aadhar Enrollment Centre will ask following documents from you:

a. Birth certificate (it must be issued by the proper issuing authority as required by the local municipal authority),

b. Photo ID (it should be clear one and latest, an old photograph is not acceptable and could lead to the rejection of your application).

c. School certificate such as secondary school or higher school certificate. Apart from this, NRI may have to submit documents that shows his or her relationship with foreign country.

Often question arises as who can obtain Aadhar Card for NRI, please keep in mind that any individual having age 03 or more can apply for NRI Aadhar card. However, he or she must be an Indian resident, that is, at the time of application, he or she should be residing in India for 182 days or more.

Foreigners are also eligible for the enrollment. However, they must be residing in India with a NRI (non-resident Indian). For example, a foreign wife can apply for aadhar card if her husband comes under the definition of NRI (non-resident individual).
